You Can Call Me Ray
I was born and raised in University City, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. I am the youngest of four girls for my father and was the only child of my mother. After graduating from U City High School in 1987, I escaped cold winters by attending Florida A & M University College of Pharmacy. Since I enjoyed arguing and loved watching Blair Underwood on LA Law, I decided to go to Florida State University College of Law. After working years as both an attorney and a pharmacist, I realized I enjoyed and excelled most at counseling, which I had to do regularly in both professions. So, I obtained a certificate in coaching then a Masters in Counseling.

I am the super single mama of one son, Larenz. Although we look like we could be siblings, I was not a teen mom like most people think when they meet us. Larenz was born during my third year of law school. I thought about naming him Justice, like Janet Jackson's character in Poetic Justice, but then I fell in love with actor Larenz Tate in the movie Inkwell. My son was and still is my motivation for just about everything that I do. I think I felt more accomplished watching my son graduate with honors with a Bachelors degree than I did when I graduated from law school with a Juris Doctorate.
In 1996, I considered suicide, after the man I thought God had put in my life to be my husband chose to marry another woman. I decided to take Larenz to Disney World before I drove to Cocoa Beach to walk into the ocean and drown. While at Disney watching a high school marching band play at the beginning of the nightly parade, my two-year-old son got out of his stroller and danced along. A Disney worker spotted him and pulled him out to the middle of the street after the band passed. With absolutely no fear or hesitation, Larenz wowed the crowd as he danced and marched up the street behind the band. There was no way I could leave this earth because I looked forward to seeing what this little boy would do next.
I am an author, entrepreneur, mediator, mentor, motivational speaker, pharmacist, spiritual coach, and workshop presenter. I use my education and life experiences to enlighten, encourage and empower others to live their best lives. I am a God loving, Bible-believing, church-going Christian. I do not profess that Christianity is the only way to serve and praise God. In fact, I appreciate all the ways people find to exhibit the true nature of God. It is my desire to start a love movement, love of God, love of self and love for all of God's children.
